How TMS Therapy for Depression in Teenagers Works
After a thorough evaluation, we will be able to determine if TMS therapy is a good fit for your teen. If we believe it may be beneficial for your child, we can start their treatment. The process is non-invasive and painless. Patients often notice a tapping or knocking sensation as the magnetic field is emitted, but at worst, this may cause mild discomfort.
A TMS session typically lasts 20 minutes or so. We find that patients experience the best results when they attend five sessions per week and attend a total of 36 sessions.
TMS therapy is often combined with other treatments, such as talk therapy or medication. (In some cases, TMS is an alternative to medication.)
